Fog Mode won’t open
- Check that Fog Mode is turned on in Chrome’s Extensions page and that you’re using the Chrome profile where it’s installed.
- Try a regular public webpage. Chrome’s internal pages and the Chrome Web Store restrict page tools.
- Click the toolbar icon. If the keyboard shortcut fails, type
chrome://extensions/shortcutsinto Chrome’s address bar and check the shortcut there. - After the extension updates, or after a test version reloads, reload the webpage and try again. Save anything you’re editing before reloading.
If it still fails, prepare a report with a public test page and the Chrome version.
A page looks wrong or tools don’t work
First choose Reset in Declutter. You can also press Escape on the page when you aren’t typing in a form or editor. If you want all active tools to stop, use Stop all.
If the problem repeats, choose Declutter → Help & this website → Leave this website alone. To reverse that choice, open Settings → Websites left alone → Allow again.
If text doesn’t change, the website may draw it like a picture. Or it may be on a page shown inside another page, on a protected page, or in a compact section. If your settings stop working after you move to another page, check optional website access. Access and page limits.
Scrolling jitters, stops, or moves the wrong part of the page
- Pause automatic scrolling. Try scrolling yourself so you can tell whether the website itself scrolls unevenly.
- Try another speed. On a supported article, try Read article and its separate pace.
- If the problem continues, leave the website alone and report which part of the page scrolls, the speed, and the steps.
Feeds can load content as you move. Dashboards can have several parts that scroll separately. If you reinstall to solve this, export your notes first.
Sound is missing or won’t stop
Check that you chose Play sound, the volume is above zero, and your computer is sending sound to the speakers or headphones you want. Use stereo headphones for binaural beats.
To stop sound, reopen Sound → Stop sound or choose Stop all. Closing the panel or ending a screen break doesn’t stop a separate sound timer. If sound still continues, report it with the sound choice and the steps.
A note disappeared or Return went to the wrong place
Open Remember → Saved notes first. A note hidden on a tab is different from a deleted note. Restarting Chrome clears anything temporarily attached to a tab, but saved notes remain in the same Chrome profile.
Check the profile, whether you actually saved the note, and whether data was deleted or the extension was removed. You can import a backup in Settings. Without one, this page can’t recover data deleted from your device.
Returning to a different web address opens a new tab. With website access on, Fog Mode restores your place after the page loads. Without it, click Fog Mode in the new tab, then press Return. If the page has changed, you may land close to your saved place. Returning to a saved page.
A guide or note covers a video
Turn off Reading guide in Declutter and hide the attached note in Remember. The floating button is optional and off by default. Turn it off in Settings if you don’t want a button on the page. Report anything that still covers the page after Stop all, including whether the video was fullscreen.
A reminder or break behaves unexpectedly
Open Settings → Open focus sessions and reminders. Check Remind me to pause, the interval, and whether reminders are paused for today. Desktop notifications need separate permission and are off by default.
A small mark in the toolbar is a reminder. It doesn’t start a screen break automatically. Open Pause to start or end a break yourself. Sound has a separate timer.
Describe the problem
Include the tool, what you did, what you expected, and what happened. A public example helps us see the same problem. Leave out passwords, private notes, health records, and private web addresses from work.
Nothing has been sent. Opening a draft doesn’t send it.
