Chrome requirements and page limits
Desktop Chrome 120 and later
This release is built for Chrome. Use a regular Chrome profile, install from the official Store listing when available, and click the toolbar icon on an ordinary website. Fog Mode doesn’t run in Incognito.
Work or school devices may limit which extensions you can install. Ask your administrator to review the listing if Chrome blocks the install. Install and get started.
Page limits
- Chrome’s own pages and the Chrome Web Store restrict Fog Mode’s page tools.
- Tools affect the main page, but not pages shown inside other pages.
- Ordinary text controls don’t work in some PDF viewers and apps that draw text like a picture.
- Clean article view needs an article it can pull out. It leaves out images and other media built into the page.
- On feeds that keep changing and apps with several scrolling panels, how well the tools work depends on the site.
Other browsers and phones
We’ve postponed work on other browsers while we finish the Chrome version.
The product page’s phone-sized examples show how the website looks, not a mobile extension.
